The news continues to deeply perplex and distress me. Last night I had a dream that I was on a submarine to Norway to protect Greenland. There was also a strange fruit we were all eating that was shaped like a donut. Despite the cool submarine and interesting snacks, I woke up from that dream tired and anxious. Whatever is happening, all the anger and rage and hate and slander, I don’t need it. None of us need it.
And yet, we also must continue to continue putting out good into the world in whatever way we can. How else do we spread large hope?
Today we released a very tender episode for me on Constant Wonder | BYUradio with Marcus Smith interviewing David Hudson, former US National Commander of The Salvation Army, and star of this little essay. For me, Dave, is one of the clearest examples of Christian goodness I’ve had in my life.
Not only do you get to hear his incredible story in this episode, you also get to hear me on air (for the second time ever) describing the few years I worked at National Headquarters with him. When I listened through this morning, I found myself in tears, feeling all over again how intensely grateful I am for good people who do good things.
I hope you’ll give it a listen. And I hope by the end you’ll feel like doing your own good thing.
